Aug-04-2025

Jeffrey S. Eberhard, PhD, passed away unexpectedly on August 4, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on November 20, 1964, Jeff was raised in Grand Island, NY, and most recently resided in Buffalo. A proud graduate of Canisius High School (Class of 1982), Jeff earned his bachelors degree from Canisius College in 1986 and went on to complete a PhD in Environmental Chemistry at the University of Cincinnati in 1995. In his youth, Jeff was a dedicated member of the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, a distinction he carried with pride throughout his life. Jeff had a passion for gourmet cooking and loved preparing meals for family and friends. He was a proud Buffalo Bills fan and an enthusiastic lover of 1980s new wave music, often reminiscing about nights spent dancing at The Continental. More than anything, Jeff cherished his role as a father, his daughters Emily and Annie were the greatest joys of his life. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stanley and Doris Klementowski and Adolf and Mildred Eberhard. Jeff is survived by his beloved daughters, Emily Eberhard and Annie Eberhard; his parents, Robert and Christine Eberhard; his brother Michael (Lindsay) Eberhard and their sons Mark, John, and Jack Eberhard; his sister Jennifer (Don) Keller and their sons Max and Nick Keller. He is also survived by his aunt Laurel (Don) Burger; cousins Melanie (Kyle) Kitchen and their children Cameron and Mikaela; Brad (Rhonda) Lunger and their children Misha and Ricky; along with many second cousins and extended family members. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 8th at 10:00 AM at St. Stephens Roman Catholic Church, followed by a reception in the church hospitality room. Jeffs warmth, intellect, and devotion to his family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

The is quite a surprise, best wishes to Jeff’s family and very sorry for your loss. I have so many stories I wouldn’t know where to start, but I know he was a great soul.

Jeff was a great friend that I had lost contact with over the years. We had just talked earlier this year about getting together for one of his business trips traveling near me. While we talked for a few hours on the phone I am sad that we won't be able to meet again on this earth and share a beer. My heart breaks for his parents and wish y'all my deepest condolences. Jeff and I (really we/group of friends) had a great time together during high school and college with lots of funny stories to tell. (Holiday Inn, Hot Tub Parties, Bars, New Wave Music, California road trip, Vegas...) I was surprised he moved back to Buffalo (I moved south to get away from the cold) but know he loved the city (Buffalo specifically) and we had a good discussion on the Bills future. I couldn't have imagined that he would pass so young. I am guessing he is tasting beer in heaven waiting to tell us how good it is, and where the best music is played! :-) Love, Jim Prince

To the whole Eberhard family, I am so sorry for your loss. I lived on Grand Island and graduated from Canisius High School in 1984. So, I rode the bus from Grand Island to Canisius with Jeff and Mike. I have lots of great memories of riding the bus with Jeff and Mike, including some very lively conversations. Jeff was never at a loss for words and had the best stories. He was the quintessential "older brother" not only to Mike but to the rest of us younger Canisius guys on the Grand Island bus. Jeff made sure we all knew the nicknames for the Canisius teachers so we could then pass them down to the next batch of freshmen. I am glad I had the privilege of knowing Jeff when I was in high school. He definitely helped me transition from St. Stephen's to Canisius. Requiescat in Pace Jeff...
