Robert "Bob" Kaiser

May 07, 2025

Age 93, of South Bend, IN, Williamsville and Grand Island, NY, passed away on May 7, 2025. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Sue (Kraybill) Kaiser. Survived by children Mark (Cathy Lownie) Kaiser and Stacy (Thomas) Gilmour; grandfather of Genevieve, Carleigh, Briana, Joel and Brandon; great-grandfather of Jackson, Elysium, and Maisy; also survived by in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Bob revealed his strong logic and math abilities in grade school, and in high school earned honors as the Indiana state math champion. He studied electrical engineering in college, earning his bachelors from Purdue University and his masters from MIT on a full scholarship. Later in life he earned his MBA from SUNY Buffalo. Most of his professional career was spent as an engineer for Bell Aerospace. He was especially proud of his work as Technical Director for the Army LACV-30 air-cushioned vehicle. A supportive husband, father and grandfather, Bob was the family’s rock and modeled ingenuity, dependability, frugality and humility. He was active in church life, serving as a committee member and trustee and offering technical and financial expertise. Perhaps his greatest role came to light when wife, Sue, was ordained as a United Methodist minister. He became a profoundly important support system as a helper, project manager, and advisor. Everyone who knew him enjoyed his razor sharp wit, honed with his keen intelligence. He had a perpetual sweet tooth and became a local legend for his Halloween popcorn balls, which he and Sue lovingly prepared for nearly 60 years.Bob was a downhill skier and golfer and always enjoyed a good chess match, puzzle or game of bridge. Playing bridge with his friends at Canterbury Woods was often the highlight of his week in recent years.
