Son in law of Richard & Gale Sander. Brother of Daniel (Marleen), Chuck (Tina), Patrick (Stacie) and Tom (Laurie). Uncle to Emily, Jessica, Nolan and Madeline Klein, Bridget, Rebecca and Ben Sander, TJ Podsiadlo, Daniel (Amanda), Kelsey (Gary) Styn, Mathew (Katie), Craig and Justin. Grandfather of Freddy Hooper. Michael was a long time resident of Grand Island, where he was a proud owner of Hooper Builders, where his dedication and craftsmanship left a lasting mark in the community. He spent countless hours and sweat building the Miracle League. He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, hunting, fishing and gathering with friends and family. As a charter captain on Lake Ontario and Lake Erie he spent countless days guiding both adults and children on unforgettable fishing adventures, delighting in the excitement on their faces when they reel in their catch. His love for the water extended to his vacations at Manasota Key, Florida, where he spent cherished days surf fishing and relaxing with family. Every deer season he could be found at The Cabin in Little Valley making memories with his father, brothers and cousin. The stories he brought home were memorable. Summer weeks were spent on the beach at Turkey Point, Ontario, enjoying lazy days on the beach, fishing and attitude adjustment hour with family and neighbors. Michael took pride and loved to grill or smoke the fish and game he caught. He loved nothing more than sharing these meals with family and friends savoring both food and laughter. His heart was as big as the outdoors that he loved. He was always ready to lend a hand, whether it was helping a neighbor with a project or offering guidance to those around him. His presence brought warmth and joy and his legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched. A celebration of Life will be held on Monday from 4-7 pm at Kaiser Funeral Home on Grand Island. Immediately following will be military honors and a prayer service. May his spirit live on in the rustling leaves of the woods, the gentle waves of the lake and the laughter of those who remember him.
